History.
Royal Albert was founded by Thomas Wild in Longton as a small pottery business in 1896.
To own a piece of Royal Albert is to have a piece of history in your hands. The name Royal Albert is linked to Prince Albert who became King George VI in 1936. The porcelain produced was therefore initially labeled "Albert Crown China".
'Royal' was added in 1904. But it soon became known familiarly as 'Royal Albert.' The company offered expensive product sets which contributed to their success.
They offered the first royal commemorations as early as 1897 to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.
Around 1910 the first overseas agency was established in New Zealand, followed by exports to Australia, Canada and the United States.
